Praise for Beattock Nursery!

The staff at Beattock nursery have been highly praised by the Care Inspectorate for delivering excellent care to children.

The service, which provides care for up to 20 children, was rated ‘excellent’ in terms of the quality of their staff by inspectors when they made an unannounced visit in September 2017.

In their latest report, inspectors noted that:

“Management and staff had created an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. We found they had an excellent approach to supporting children's individual needs, taking an early intervention approach.”

“The staff team go above and beyond expectations to ensure the children's experiences in the nursery were excellent. Staff demonstrated dedication and commitment to their own professional learning and action-based research results in professional reflection and dynamic, proactive change with the children, their families and the Beattock community. The staff's commitment to improvement has been shared widely and inspires other early learning and childcare staff in the school cluster group, the wider local authority and nationally, for example it was presented at the Scottish Learning Festival. Staff have actively sought out funding from Scottish Attainment Challenge to provide additional services to ensure families receive support with children before they reach nursery age.”

Inspectors talked to the children and to their parents and carers in making their judgements - all spoke very highly about the nursery. Comments they made included:

“"Staff are fabulous.  Any questions I have are not a problem - they are really understanding."

“"Beattock nursery is a fabulous place with wonderful caring staff and I feel privileged that my daughter has experienced such a lovely nursery.”

Headteacher,  Mrs Watson said “This accolade for the nursery staff is very well deserved and recognises the dedication and commitment they make each and every day to make sure young people have a great experience when they come in to our nursery.”
