Book Week Scotland 2019
Wow, what a busy week we had for Book Week Scotland! Miss Gibbon even managed a Book Week Scotland visit to Beattock Primary, where she had fun meeting all the pupils.
Back at Moffat Academy, Nursery, P1, P2 and P3 watched author readings of the books shortlisted for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize and then voted for their favourite which was ‘The Prince and the Witch and the Thief and the Bears’ by Alistair Chisholm. They also received their fantastic Bookbags from the Scottish Book Trust.
Nursery pupils receive their Bookbags later in the year, so instead, Miss Gibbon gifted the pupils a second-hand book each from her cupboard. P4-P7 pupils took part in a Bookswap and a quiz. Each participating pupil completed a slip to explain why they liked the book they were donating to swap.
Quiz winners were P4- Harry , P5 - Mallory , P6-James, P6/7-Geordie, P7-Wilfie.
Secondary pupils and staff participated in a Countdown competition. The overall winners were the Staff Team - well done!
S1 and S2 Library Reading Classes listened to a Patrick Ness author interview and took part in a quiz.
All pupils also voted for their favourite Scottish word. Secondary's favourite was 'Shoogle' and Primary's was 'Wheesht'!
