Book Week Scotland 2018

Day One

We had the wonderful Ruthie Redden and Susi Briggs, authors of Nip Nebs, visiting the Primary. Susi Sweet Pea Fairy told stories to nursery-P3, while Ruthie ran a 'mindfulness' workshop for P4-P7 pupils. Secondary pupils competed in round one of a countdown competition, well done to the winners. Thank you to the Nip Nebs authors for visiting us, we very much enjoyed your visit. Thank you to Senior Prefects for your assistance and also thank you to our Junior Photography team and Matilda Isles for photography too. Nip Nebs is published by Curly Tale Books Ltd where you can also buy it. It is also available locally from The Moffat Bookshop.

Day Two

Staff took part in the Secondary Countdown Competition - well done to 'The Hingers On'!

Day Three

Nursery-P3 voted in the The Scottish Book Trust Bookbug Picture Book Competition. They watched three authors read their stories on the Scottish Booktrust website and then voted. They also received their Bookbags. The overall favourite was 'One Button Benny' by Alan Windram. Their votes for all three books will be submitted to the Scottish Book Trust. Team 'Banana FC' won Wednesday's Secondary Countdown and will proceed to tomorrow's final.

Day Four

Congratulations to 'Banana FC' who won 'The Final Countdown'!

Day Five

S3 and S6 pupils were treated to a visiting comedian with the Scottish Book Trust, Marjolein Robertson from Shetland. She was very entertaining and also ran a writing workshop for pupils to understand how she comes up with her jokes. Thank you to the Scottish Book Trust for the free event.
