Scottish Finals Regional Disability Sportshall Athletics
Following the Regional Disability Sportshall Athletics trial the two Moffat pupils pictured above, Shay Sullivan and Donald Kerner were chosen to represent Dumfries and Galloway at the Scottish finals in Grangemouth. The team performed exceptionally well finishing in second place overall just behind Fife region. It was a great honour to be selected. Well done to both boys.
Success for Steven!
Last year's employability class enjoyed a school trip to the Lion King in Edinburgh last term. The class helped to plan and organise the trip and were exemplary on the day.
Well done to Elliott Hepburn, Cairn Graham, Callum Thompson and Morgan Todd who were successful in the heats of the Procurator Fiscal's Public Speaking Competition. Congratulations to Elliot and Cairn who won the semi final on March 2nd at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
Teambuilding in S3
S3 pupils were participating in various team building exercises on Thursday 12th March. Thank you to Paul 'Jaffa' O'Neil and Gav Adamson from the Royal Navy for coming along to run a wind turbine activity. Pupils had 20 minutes to construct a wind turbine using large knex parts. Well done to the winning team pictured with Jaffa and Gav.
Thank you also to Sheila Notman and Jill Miller from the Princes Trust who came in to teach pupils how to pitch a business. Pupils also took part in a knex challenge in Miss Allen's room.
During February, mixed teams from S1 to S6 (with some staff also taking part) competed in Moffat Academy’s very own Champions League style tournament. The ‘Golden Boot’ for top goalscorer went to Peter Mendy, with 11 goals. Our Ballon d’Or winner (player of the tournament) went to Joel Smith with 4 ‘Man of the Match’ awards.
