Book Week Scotland 2017

Book Week Scotland this year was filled with lots of different events for the whole school.

Nursery and P1 watched videos of authors reading their books which have been shortlisted for the Bookbug Picture Book Prize 2018. They then voted on their favourite which was 'Gorilla Loves Vanilla'. Their votes were submitted to the Scottish Book Trust website to join hundreds of other voters. P1 also recieved their Bookbags gifted from the Scottish Book Trust and Nursery pupils chose a book from Miss Gibbon's spare books.

Primary 2-3 watched an Author Screening of Ed Vere. He read two of his books and then pupils tried their hand at illustrating. They did a fantastic job! They also recieved their Bookbags. P4-P7 participated in a 'Countdown Challenge' in their classroom. Two pupils from each class went head to head in a grand final in their assembly.

Secondary pupils and staff also took part in a 'Countdown Challenge' in the library. They played in teams and the winning team in the final on Friday were the staff team due to Mr McPhee correctly guessing the Crucial Coundown Conundrum!

All winning pupils and staff of the Countdown Challenges won a goodie bag with chocolate, a bookmark and a book. Well done to all. Thank you to senior pupil Scott McCutcheon for being our offical adjudicator, Mrs Macfarlane for compéring the Primary event and Primary teachers for running the challenge in their classrooms. Thanks also to Miss Gibbon for arranging the events.
